Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Narrowly Defeated By Cabrini

Langhorne, PA – Cabrini College edged Cairn men's soccer on Saturday afternoon 2-1 and gave the Highlanders their fourth CSAC loss this season. Cairn took 11 shots in the game with five of them on goal, while Cabrini had 15 shots with nine on goal.

The Cavaliers scored the first goal of the game in the ninth minute when Bobby Kane followed up on his own saved shot to tap in the rebound. The Highlanders took just four shots in the first half but struck the back of the net on one of them in the 39th minute.

Craig Kikendall (Philadelphia, PA) uncorked a shot from well outside the 18 as he was coming across the field that went past the outstretched arms of CJ Serratore to the left side of the goal. Cairn went into the halftime break with the 1-1 tie and the momentum against the conference-undefeated Cavaliers.

Cairn had chances to take the lead in the second half but Kikendall had two shots saved by Serratore before Cabrini broke the tie. Kikendall finished with four shots total, with three on goal.

Cabrini broke through in the 75th minute of the game when A.J. Bishop put away a header in the top left corner of the goal. The cross came in from the right corner of the field from Jared Irwin.

Unfortunately, the Highlanders were unable to get any good scoring chances for the remainder of the game and the Cavaliers finished with the 2-1 win. Mark Heater (Harrisburg, PA) made a few great saves to keep Cabrini from scoring more goals, however. Heater finished with seven saves in the game.

Ahron Park (Newark, DE) and Connor Eby (Kansas City, MO) finished with two shots each for the Highlanders. With the loss, Cairn dropped to 7-8-1 overall and 3-4 in the conference. Cabrini improved to 12-1-3 overall and 6-0-1 in the CSAC with the win.

The Highlanders will next host Rosemont College on Tuesday, Oct. 27, for senior day at 3:30 p.m.
