Radnor, PA - The Highlander men scored the opening goal of the game but could not hold their lead and lost 3-1 to the Cavaliers on Tuesday evening. The loss dropped the Highlanders to 1-7 in the conference, while the win improved the Cavaliers' conference record to 7-2.
Justin Nolan struck the Highlanders' goal in the 11th minute of the game and take an early lead. That shot was Cairn's only until the 37th minute when Craig Kikendall fired one that was saved by CJ Serratore.
Cairn took three shots total but all of them were on goal. Cabrini sent 14 shots towards the Highlanders' net and seven of those were on target. The Cavaliers committed 14 fouls in the game to the Highlanders' 4, and Cairn had the lead with corner kicks 4-3.
Cabrini netted the tying goal just over ten minutes after Cairn took the lead on a goal by Bobby Kane. The two teams played into the half with the score tied at 1-1.
After the half, Cabrini kept up the offensive pressure with a shot on goal in the 58th minute, but Kikendall matched that with a shot on frame in the 63rd minute. The Cavaliers broke the stalemate in the 69th minute when John Underwood sent one past Pancoast.
The Cavaliers scored their third goal of the game shortly after hitting the post two previous times. During the game, Cabrini was called offsides twice to Cairn's zero.
Cairn fell to 2-12-1 overall with the loss, while Cabrini improved to 12-6 with the win. The Highlanders will finish off their season this Saturday, Nov. 1, when they host Marywood University at 3 p.m.
