Cairn Takes Down Rosemont In Double Overtime

Box Score

Rosemont, PA – Caleb Moore put away his second goal of the game in double overtime to give Cairn their first CSAC win in 2014. The loss was the first in the CSAC for Rosemont this season.

The Highlanders had two chances in the first overtime period but could not find the goal on either. Those were the first opportunities for Cairn since the 64th minute of the game but they wouldn't be the last.

A well-played ball was sent up the field in the direction of Moore. He was then able to beat the defense and finish it in the left side of the goal past the keeper.

Earlier in the game, Moore leveled the match at 1-1 when he found a rebound off of the goalie and stuck it in the top left. The two goals for Moore were his third and fourth of the season.

"Overall I thought it was a great effort by the whole team," said head coach Luke Gibson after the game. "They put all the pieces together and I was proud of the way they played out there."

Five other Highlanders registered shots in the game; four of those shots were on frame. Cairn was also able to hold Rosemont to just two shots on goal throughout the 103 minutes of play.

The match was played physically with 14 fouls on Rosemont and 17 on Cairn. Five yellow cards were also given out amongst both teams.

Rosemont's goal was scored in the 20th minute of the game on a penalty kick given for a foul in the 18-yard box.

The win is Cairn's second of the season and improves their record to 2-10-1 with a 1-5 record in the CSAC. Rosemont dropped to 5-8 overall and 4-1 in the conference. The Highlanders will next host Immaculata on Oct. 21 at 4 p.m.
