Box Score Langhorne, PA - Senior Kathleen Meacham scored her first goal of the season on Tuesday but it was too little too late as Cairn's women's soccer team fell at the hands of Eastern Mennonite University.
Box Score
The Lady Highlanders were looking to avenge a 2-0 defeat at the hands of the Royals last season but it was all EMU in the first half. In particular, the opening twenty minutes belonged to EMU's Nora Osei. The junior midfielder exploded out of the opening moments of the game, needing only 20:15 to record a hat-trick.
In the 11th minute, Osei drilled a shot over the head of Highlanders goalkeeper Sara Poole. Nine minutes later, she would score from a similar blast from 21 yards out to put the Royals up 2-0. Less than 30 seconds later, Elisa Ott was teeing up her teammate inside the penalty area to complete the hat-trick.
Just before halftime, Sophie Smith extended the Royals lead in the 42nd minute to 4-0.
Cairn's Kathleen Meacham ruined Eastern Mennonite's shutdown bid in the 61st minute when she corralled a throughball from freshman Alyssa Leister and slotted her shot inside the far post.
Sara Poole and Naomi Collipp split time in the net for Cairn, combining for five saves.
The loss knocks the Highlanders to 1-3 in the early going of the season.Â
This Friday, Cairn hits the road for a trip against Bryn Mawr, who beat Cairn 4-0 last season.
