Langhorne, PA - Three Nittany Lion goals in the first period were too many for the Highlanders (5-2-2, 0-1-1 UEC) to overcome as Cairn fell to 0-1-1 in United East play at the hands of PSU-Abington (1-8-1, 1-1 UEC).
While Cairn attempted more shots than the Nittany Lions (14-10, 8-5 on goal), the Highlanders were unable to connect on any of their attempts. Cairn came out firing with three shots on goal in the first twelve minutes, all of which were saved by Abington. The visitors scored their first goal in the 32nd minute, followed by two consecutive goals in the 39th and 40th minutes, respectively. Abington's goalkeeper recorded eight saves to Rhian Erspamer's (Valparaiso, IN / Victory Christian) two saves.
The Highlanders seek their first conference win this Saturday, October 3, at 4pm, at Penn State-Harrisburg (3-5-1, 2-0 UEC).
