Kissimmee, FL - Clearwater Christian College scored three first half goals to down the Highlanders 3-0 in the opening round of the NCCAA National tournament.
The Cougars' Katie Reid scored five minutes into the game to give CCC an early 1-0 lead, before Tori Hale scored a brace (two goals) for Clearwater over the next seven minutes extending the lead to an insurmountable 3-0.
Cairn was outshot 17-3 on the day.
Senior goalkeeper
Naomi Collipp made 10 saves for the Highlanders.
Despite the loss, Cairn still has a statistical chance of progressing to the championship game. With the field of six teams competing in two groups of three, the Highlanders still have another game against Maranatha Baptist Bible College. The winner of each group will advance to the final. To have a shot, Cairn must win on Friday and hope for a Clearwater loss.
