Charles Hopkins
helped kick-start the Highlanders out of the gate, scoring 7 of his 19 points in the opening nine minutes of the game, helping Cairn build a ten point lead over their hosts, 16-6. Cairn maintained their lead all the way to the break, 24-22, but let their double-digit lead fade over the final ten minutes.

At the half, the Cyclones were certainly having replays of last years game when Cairn got their lone CSAC win against Centenary. That may have proved motivation for the home side as the Cyclones came out of the lockerroom with a vengance. Within 30 seconds, the Cyclones had tied the game at 24-24 and a chance to take the lead after Joshua Case was fouled as he made the half's opening basket. Case made his free-throw and just like that, the lead was gone. Only momentarily though. Barron Lacy converted a layup at the other end, restoring Cairn's lead, 26-25. Unfortunately, it would be the last time the visitors would have it.

The teams battled back-and-forth to a 31-30 scoreline, in favor of Centenary, before a 12-0 run from the Cyclones broke things open. Cairn's Charles Hopkins was able to make it to the free-throw line at that point, but was unable to stem the tide of the Cyclone offense. 5 more points came the way of Centenary before Reuben Lacy's jumper at 8:41 finally stopped the run, but at that point it was 48-33.

Following a Hopkin's 3-pointer, a combination of turnovers and poor shooting allowed the home team to go on yet another momentum killing run. From 7:52 to 3:57, Centenary rattled off 12 more straight points, turning what was once a 10-point lead for the Highlanders to a now 24-point advantage for Centenary. Centenary would go on to win 65-44.

Hopkins paced the Highlanders with a game-high 19 points on 7-of-15 shooting, including going 4-for-8 from beyond the 3pt arc, and 4 assists. Sophomore forward Rebuen Lacy grabbed 7 rebounds and 11 points. Senior forward Barron Lacy gathered a game-high 12 boards.

Andy Charles led the comeback for Centenary with 16 points and 11 rebounds. No other Cyclone reached double-figures, but 6 different players finished with 7 or more points.

Cairn returns to the court on Wednesday night, when they will host CSAC rivals Keystone College. Tip-off is set for 8pm.
