LBC Charges Past Highlanders

Lancaster, PA - In a non-conference match-up, the Chargers of Lancaster Bible ran past the Cairn Highlanders 4-0.

Box Score

The scoring started in the 19th minute when LBC's Bethany Stein's shot deflected off of a Cairn defender, wrong-footing goalkeeper Sara Poole, and found the back of the net. An unfortunate start for the Highlanders, but down 1-0 meant they were still in the game. Ten minutes later, though, the Chargers had a 2-0 lead. Monica Horning's cross was met by Kathryn Ritter in the 29th minute and she made no mistake, placing her shot into the left hand corner of the net.

LBC would add one more goal before halftime when Bethany Stein scored her second goal of the game. This one coming off of another LBC cross. Stein one-time poked the ball past the goalline from Brooke Cullum's feed.

Monica Horning would show a nice bit of individual skill to add a goal in the 65th minute to go with her earlier assist, finishing off the last of the scoring.

The Chargers outshot the Highlanders 24-3. Sara Poole would finish with 11 saves on the day.

Cairn falls to 0-5 while LBC improves to 4-3.

The Highlanders will look to get on track this weekend when they play host to Keystone College in the first conference game of the season. Last season, Keystone won 2-1 in overtime in controversial fashion.
