Box Score
LANGHORNE, PA - The Women's Soccer team continues to make strides forward, but fell short on Wednesday, but fell to the Nittany Lions of Penn St.-Abington 2-1.
Penn State were given a huge boost after only three minutes when Brianna Heck netted the first goal. The Crimson Eagles steadied the ship and began searching for the game-tying goal. But the score would remain the same until halftime.
In the second half, both teams battled to take control of the match. With the teams going back-and-forth, Penn State struck again in the 58th minute to take a 2-0 lead, through Adrianna Rodriguez. Brittany Middleton was credited with the assist.
PBU looked down and out, but sophomore forward Amara Mills popped up on a corner from Rachel Brubaker to head home to narrow the score to 2-1. It made for some nervous moments for the Nittany Lion back line, but the Crimson Eagles were unable to find the equaliser.
Gabrielle Benedict made three saves for the Nittany Lions, while Naomi Collipp made six.
The Crimson Eagles fall to 2-2.
They will look to get back on track this Saturday, September 17, when they travel to Bryn Mawr. Kick-off time is at 12pm.
