Men's Soccer Pay For Missed Opportunities

Freshman Nathan Woodcock Put In A Solid Performance Against Immaculata
Boxscore

IMMACULATA, PA
- Philadelphia Biblical University's Men's Soccer team were unable to take advantage of several gilt-edged opportunities and were made to punish for it.

The Crimson Eagles carved out several opportunities that typically would've wound up in the back of the net, but not on this day. PBU would put the ball wide, straight at the keeper, or plain miss-hit some glorious chances.

Although the Mighty Macs of Immaculata weren't able to score in the first half either, they didn't wait long in the second half to make the Crimson Eagles pay for their ineffectiveness. The Mighty Mac's TJ Jappah would lose his marker twice in the first ten minutes of the second half to score his 2nd and 3rd goals of the season, giving Immaculata a 2-goal lead over PBU.

Jappah's first came in the 49th minute and he would add his second 6 minutes later.

Again, in the second half, the Crimson Eagles would have some quality chances just inside the box, let alone the six-yard box, but couldn't find the magic touch to put the ball away. In one instance, the ball ricocheted off six sets of legs following back-to-back shots by PBU before finally being knocked out for a corner kick. That series of events seemed to sum up the Crimson Eagle's night.

PBU did throw bodies forward at the end in an effort to get something out of the match, and their push almost paid off. A rare forray forward from defender Sam Hunter saw his cross find Jeremy McAlack to head home, making the score 2-1 with just over 5 minutes to play.

Immaculata's defense would stand tall, blocking several shots, and seeing out the one-goal lead until the end.

The CSAC win marks the first for the Mighty Macs, while it drops PBU to 2-4 in conference. At 2-4, PBU's chances of a playoff birth are still alive but looking like a hill to climb.

PBU will look to get back on track within the Colonial States Athletic Conference when they will travel to La Plume, Pa this Saturday to take on Keystone College.
