Crimson Eagles Stopped Short on Road

Box Score

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ - It turned out to be one of those games that you just can't get past the hurdle.

The Crimson Eagles made three separate attempts to dissolve a somewhat overwhelming Centenary College lead Monday evening but ultimately came up short during each attempt in what turned out to be an 82-66 loss to the Cyclones.

It seemed that every PBU push was greeted with a Centenary spurt as the host group collected their ninth conference triumph of the year during the win.

The Cyclones shot 47.1 percent in the opening half and limited their counterpart to a sub-par 31.4 percent clip during the stanza to help break open a 40-27 edge at the break.

Despite several Crimson Eagle runs down the stretch that at one point would see the gap narrow to as little as six, Centenary managed to hang on thanks to several timely three balls during the waning minutes.

The Cyclones received a major boost from their bench as Centenary's reserves outscored PBU's by a 23-9 margin. The host squad also managed a 14-8 edge in fast break points for the game.

Willie Miller led the charge for PBU as the senior captain notched 17 points, eight rebounds and five assists in 37 minutes of work. Sophomore forward Luke Taylor added 14 points on six of seven shooting from the floor, and Ben Fuller and Brett Zamroz added 12 and 10 points, respectively.

The Crimson Eagles will play in the Mason Activity Center for the final time of the 2009-10 season on Thursday as the group hosts Marywood University at 8:00 pm.
