LANGHORNE, PA - For the first time ever, the men's basketball team has strung together a winning streak within the Colonial States Athletic Conference.
The Crimson Eagles bettered Rosemont College Saturday afternoon behind efficient marksmanship from the field that saw the host squad drain over 50 percent of their attempts from the floor for the second straight outing.
Saturday's 68-62 triumph signals PBU's second win over the Ravens in a 10 day period as the group topped the visitors by 12 during their first tilt late last week.
During the most recent match-up the Crimson Eagles tied a season low by turning the ball over just 13 times, signaling the second time in three games the group has achieved that mark.
PBU would kick off Saturday's game on a 12-2 run and would balloon their advantage to as big a 22-8 with 12 minutes left in the opening period. Rosemont would battle back, however, closing the gap to within nine before the halftime horn sounded.
The Crimson Eagles would increase the margin to 47-34 with 10 minutes to play but would see the edge dwindle to 59-52 with four minutes left. However, PBU would keep the Ravens at arms length the rest of the way by hitting six of eight charity tosses down the stretch.
Despite giving up 20 offensive rebounds, the Crimson Eagles limited the Ravens to 34.3 percent shooting for the game while allowing the group to go just five of 20 from downtown.
Five players reached double figures for the Crimson Eagles with junior Brett Zamroz's 16 points and six rebounds paving the way. Senior Ben Fuller added 13 and third-year forward Charles Kennedy pumped out an 11-point, seven-board effort. Willie Miller added 10 points and a game-high seven assists while Luke Taylor added 10.
The Crimson Eagles will return to action this Tuesday when the group travels to Immaculata University to take on the Mighty Macs at 7:00 pm.
