LANGHORNE, PA - Entering Tuesday's contest, the men's soccer team had allowed just a single goal in the team's previous 290 minutes of action.
How quickly things can change.
After a string of several impressive performances that saw the Crimson Eagles overcome highly regarded Brigdewater College, 2-1, and draw even with an impressive Widener University squad, 0-0, Tuesday's Crimson Eagle crew failed to produce the same type of determined effort that was unquestionably evident during their previous three outings.
Instead, Marymount University all-but had their way with PBU, dishing the Crimson Eagles their second-to-worst home loss in four years. The Saints blanked the host squad 3-0 in what ends up as PBU's third game thus far that they've failed to produce at least a single score.
Despite a somewhat lopsided final tally in shots for the game (30-6), the Crimson Eagles kept within striking distance for nearly the entirety of the match. The visitors got on the board in the 30th minute when Marymount's Kjell Crooke notched what ended up being the game winning goal, sticking home a short club into the side of the cage to put the Saints up 1-0.
With their backs to the wall, PBU would fend off Marymount's incessant attack for the next 51 striaght minutes but would cave late, allowing two Saint scores during the final 10 minutes of play.
The loss marks the second time this year the Crimson Eagles have failed to register at least 10 shots in a game and the first time the group's failed to tally a single corner.
PBU keeper Andy Ecker posted double digit saves for the third time this season, making 10 stops in Tuesday's contest.
The Crimson Eagles fall to 2-2-1 on the season while Marymount improves to 3-3-1.
The soccer team will return to the field on Friday when the group heads to New York to take on East Region foe Davis College. Game time is scheduled for 4:00 pm.
