PBU Comes Up Short as Seniors Bid Farewell

Box Score

LANGHORNE, PA
- Collecting 23 offensive rebounds and losing? Probably any coach will tell you that's nearly impossible.

But, unfortunately, the unthinkable happened Thursday evening in the Mason Activity Center as the Crimson Eagles - despite holding a 23-7 edge on the offensive glass - fell in their final regular season contest to Centenary College, 77-64.

The final home contest for six PBU seniors, the Crimson Eagles dominated from the outset in the rebounding category. But Centenary's hot hand throughout the evening - including a 65 percent effort from the floor in the second half - proved to be enough to combat the lack of efficiency on the boards for the visitors.

Coming into Thursday's contest ranked tops in the CSAC in team three-point percentage, the Cyclones were once again on target from downtown, hitting 43.8 percent of their three point tries for the game en route to their eighth win of the season while clinching the final spot in the CSAC playoffs.

The Crimson Eagles finished the evening with a season low mark of 11 turnovers, but nonetheless struggled to get any type of offensive efficiency going as the host squad shot just 38.4 percent for the game including a paultry three for 17 mark from beyond the arc.

Fourth-year senior Tom Arthur posted his eighth double-double of the year, finishing with a game high 29 points while coralling 13 rebounds. Classmate Austin McCardle chipped in with 10 points, five baords and three assists, and Mike Phillips added 13 points and five boards in 29 minutes of action.

With their regular season schedule complete, the men's basketall team will turn their attention to NCCAA II East Region play next week when the team goes head-to-head with Valley Forge Christian on the road on Thursday.
