Crimson Eagles Manage First Win of '09

Box Score

LANGHORNE, PA - It's been over a full year since the Crimson Eagles have exited the doors of the Mason Activity Center with a "W" in hand.

Not true anymore.

On Saturday, the men's basketball team erased a year-long plague while playing within the confines of Langhorne as the group rolled out a 80-72 triumph over visiting Washington Bible College.

The Crimson Eagles pounded the ball inside around the bucket to help the group finish with their highest scoring outburst since last season's 86-52 win over Penn State New Kensington. PBU controlled the paint all night with exactly half of their offensive production (40 pts) coming from the interior while WBC was held to just 14 interior buckets for the game.

PBU would jump out to a 17-10 edge seven minutes into the contest but would see the margin quickly evaporate as Washington would pull to within one halfway through the stanza. The Crimson Eagles would respond, however, by stretching the margin to 12 at the break sparked by a 19-10 spurt to close the stanza.

The visitors would hang around much of the second half but would fail to get any closer than five as the Crimson Eagles would keep WBC at arms length behind a 47 percent shooting clip, marking the group's highest collective shooting mark since early January of last year.

PBU would place four players in double figures on the night, led by senior Ben Fuller's game-high mark of 20 points on eight of sixteen shooting from the floor to go with nine boards and four assists. Classmate Willie Miller would pitch in with a near triple-double, going for 18 points, 10 boards, and nine helpers. Second-year forward Luke Talyor pumped out career high marks of 18 pionts and 10 rebounds on seven of 10 shooting, and rookie Fred Santucci would add 10 points and two blocks in 24 minutes of action.

The Crimson Eagles will get back on the road this Tuesday when the group travels to New York for a date with NCCAA East Region rival Davis College. Game time against the Falcons is scheduled for 5:00 pm.
