Maíra de Campos enters her fourth season as an assistant coach for the women’s soccer program in the 2021 season.

Before arriving at Cairn, Maíra worked as the assistant women’s soccer coach for the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. During her time at UAPB De Campos worked as the goalkeeper coach. She also assisted in recruiting, practice planning, and game plan development.

“Maíra is a hard worker who cares about the players as individuals and desires to invest in their lives. With her knowledge of the game and high level of playing experience, she will be a valuable asset to building the team as we move forward,” said head coach Kristina O’Connell.  “It is exciting to add her to the coaching staff.”

De Campos played two years of soccer at NCAA Division I University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. She joined the Lady Lions as a junior transferring from Otero Junior College in La Junta, CO. During her time as a Lady Lion, De Campos was a team captain and helped to rebuild the program. She played a pivotal role in the team’s qualifying for the Southwestern Athletic Conference Tournament, with the Lady Lions making it all the way to the SWAC Tournament final her senior season.

Before attending UAPB, De Campos started her career in the States at the NJCAA Division I Otero Junior college.  During her sophomore year at OJC, De Campos was named team captain and helped the team to claim the region IX championship. De Campos also helped the team to qualify for the NJCAA Division I National Tournament for the first time in the school’s history. After the season De Campos was named to the Region IX First Team.

Post-graduation, De Campos played with the Torch Sports Ministry in the WPSL. She was named an all-star for the 2016 season and will be joining the torch again this summer.

“I am very excited to become a part of the Cairn’s family and use the skills I developed to honor God,” said Maíra. “I am looking forward to working with the coaching staff and the team. I desire to make a difference and be a blessing to each of them.”

In addition to coaching, de Campos will be pursuing her Master’s Degree in Organizational Leadership.
