The Cairn University Athletic Department is excited to announce that
Matt Bruder has been named the 11th Head Men's Volleyball Coach in program history, made official by the University on Tuesday.
"I'm so excited for this opportunity God has given me to serve as Head Coach at Cairn." Bruder remarked on his hiring. "I'm looking forward to encouraging the guys to grow on the court and off the court. Last season, we saw a lot of growth and improvement as a team, and I hope to continue that this season. I can't wait to get to work and see how far we can push ourselves."
Bruder makes the jump to Head Coach after serving last year as an Assistant Coach for the Highlanders on a team that compiled a 16-4 overall record, an undefeated 12-0 record in conference play and captured their second-straight Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Championship. Bruder emphasizes teaching the game's fundamentals, while also building relationships with the athletes and constructing a team that wants to represent Christ on and off the court.
"One of the most impactful verses in my life has been Proverbs 27:17, which speaks about edification and accountability." Bruder said. "These are two things that I believe are so important for a team to grow, whether it's in sports, work, or ministry. Above all, I'm excited to see how God works in and around this team, and how He'll use us to further His Kingdom."
