Madison Warfel

Madison Warfel enters his fifth season on the bench as an assistant coach for the men’s basketball program in the 2021-22 season.

Before arriving to Cairn, Madison has had extensive experience both at the collegiate and professional level. As a Sports Information Director he has worked at Bellhaven University, Point University, and Loyola University. At the professional level he has worked with both the Indiana Pacers and the Indiana Fever.

During his time with the Indiana Pacers and Indiana Fever, some of his duties included writing halftime and full game recaps, interviewing players and coaches, editing and posting videos and pictures, and writing various blog posts for both teams.

“Madison is one of my closest friends and I am thrilled to have him part of the coaching staff. He has a fantastic basketball mind, but more importantly has a passion for impacting student-athletes. I am looking forward to seeing how he helps the program grow,” said head coach Jason O’Connell. Coach O’Connell has known Madison since their time at Lancaster Bible, during which they had the opportunity to coach AAU together, so he is excited to have him on staff once again.

Warfel graduated from Lancaster Bible in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science in Sports Management and Ministry. In 2014 he graduated from Indiana University - Purdue University at Indianapolis (IUPUI) with a Master of Arts in Sports Journalism.

Warfel played four years of basketball at NCAA Division III Lancaster Bible College. During his time at Lancaster Bible he was a starter during his final three seasons. He is one of 22 players in Chargers men’s basketball history to tally 1,000 career points and ranks 3rd in school history in career three-pointers made. Along with his ability to score the ball he ranks in the top 20 in school history in total rebounds.
