LANGHORNE, PA – The Highlanders had a complete day, winning every match up including doubles against the Nittany Lions in a United East Conference play at home, winning by a score of 7-0.
DOUBLES PLAY:
Senior Daniel Stange (Langhorne, PA / Bucks County Technical High School) and Freshman Nehemiah Clark (Ukarumpa, Papua New Guinea / Ukarumpa International School) took their #1 doubles match up on the day against the Nittany Lions, winning by a score of 6-3. Meanwhile, for the #2 doubles match up, Sophomore Matheo Baez (Ibarra, Ecuador / Victoria Bilingual Christian Academy) and Freshman Vicente Martinez-Pavez (Pichilemu, Chile / Lower Dauphin) also brought home their doubles win by a score of 6-2 and secured the Highlanders the doubles point. Senior Evan Ciccone (Tinton Falls, NJ / Monmouth Regional High School) and Junior Joshua Nacy (Puebla, Mexico / Michigan Connections Academy) took care of business when it came to their #3 doubles match up, starting with a tough first game, but then taking care of the rest, winning by a score of 6-3.
SINGLES PLAY:
Baez took care of his #1 singles match up with authority, winning both of his sets by a margin of 6-1 to get the singles play kicked off to a Highlander head start. Stange was in charge of the #2 doubles assignment, and found himself in a battle with Brandywine, but overcame his third set, winning by a close score of 7-5 in the third to get the win for his match. Nacy had the #3 singles match and won by a commanding score of 6-1, 6-0 to secure the Highlanders match day win against the Brandywine Nittany Lions. Martinez-Pavez also found himself in a first set battle but played with grit and finished strong with a final line of 7-6 (7-4) , 6-0 in his match to secure the win at #4 singles. Clark took a commanding 6-0 first set in his #5 singles and finished out with a 6-2 win for his second set
securing another highlander win on the day. Lastly, for the #6 singles, Ciccone handled business with a 6-1, 6-0 win to cap off the Highlanders sweep against Brandywine.
The Highlanders will finish off their spring season playing against Penn College on Saturday for Senior day.
