BSB: Highlanders Drop 2 Games to Swarthmore

St. Davids, PA - Highlanders drop both halves of double header with Swarthmore.

Game 1:
In game 1 the Highlanders trotted out freshman pitcher Jack Croft (Eastampton, NJ / Rancocas Valley Regional High School) on the mound. Croft delivered 2 scoreless innings before getting into trouble in the 3rd and 4th frames, allowing 5 earned runs in his first collegiate start.
Cairn (0-3 / 0-0 UNITED EAST) struggled to get the bats going throughout the game against Swarthmore (4-2 / 0-0 Centennial). The Highlanders failed to record a hit until the 7th inning. Freshman designated hitter Trevor Golden punched a single into center-field to break up the no-hitter. The Highlanders dropped game 1 by a score of 11-0.

Game 2:
Saw more life from the Highlander offense wit Cairn loading the bases in the 1st inning but coming up empty handed. The third inning saw Cairn plate their first run of the day. The Highlander started the inning with a lead off double by junior second baseman AJ Ramirez (Manchester, NJ / Elmira College) who advanced to 3rd on a wild pitch. Sophomore left fielder Cameron Burnes (Syracuse, NY / Faith Heritage) laid down a unt to score the run and reached first safely. The Highlanders pushed another run across the plate in the 6th inning when sophomore outfielder Stephen Persian (Rancho Santa Margarita, CA / Capistrano Valley Christian) hit a sacrifice ground ball to the first baseman scoring freshman third baseman Jake Murnock (Scranton, PA / Scranton Preparatory School). The Highlanders struggle to hold the Swarthmore offense in check throughout the game and allowed 18 runs giving a final score of 18-2.

The Highlanders return to action Wednesday March 4th by going on the road to play Washington College.
