LANCASTER, PA – Highlanders fall to Lancaster Bible College in first game of 2026.
Cairn(1-9 / 0-3 UNITED EAST) got off to a hot start taking a 4-0 lead over Lancaster Bible College(5-10/ 3-0 UNITED EAST). However, the Chargers rallied back to lead 16-10 with eleven seconds remaining in the first quarter. This was just enough time for senior guard
Kailee Sobrino (Vail, AZ / Empire) to make it down the court and sink a buzzer beating three-pointer to cut the deficit to three points. Sobrino hit another 3 point jumper early in the second quarter that cut the lead to two points, but this was as close as the Highlanders would get. The Chargers took control in the second quarter and went into half leading 38-18.
Cairn continued to battle in the second half, lead by junior forward
Emily Brittin (Winslow, NJ / Pilgrim Academy) who scored 11 of her 15 points in the final two frames. Ultimately, Lancaster Bible College came out on top defeating Cairn with a final score of 69-39
The Highlanders will continue conference play on January 7th when they host the St. Mary's College Seahawks at 3 PM in the Mason Activity Center.
