Frederick, MD - Cairn secures first win of the new season.

Cairn(1-9 / 0-0 UNITED EAST) got off to a hot start in the first set against Houghton (1-5 / 0-0 AMCC) claiming a 4-1 lead to start the set. Houghton came back and took a 15-14 lead. After this Houghton went on a 10-2 run to claim the first set 25-16. 
The second set saw back and forth scoring throughout the set. Late in the set Cairn had multiple chances to close out the set, leading 25-24, 26-25 and 27-26 but ultimately fell 27-29.  
The third set saw Cairn claim their first set of the match behind 7 kills by junior outside hitter Sam Poirier (Nogyang, South Korea International Christian School Uijeongbu) and 5 by freshman opposite Nehemiah Clark (Ukarumpa, Papua New Guinea / Ukarumpa International School). 
The fourth set was more of the same from Poirier collecting 6 more kills before closing the set with a pair of aces to give Cairn a 25-17 win. 
The fifth and final set saw Cairn win 15-10 with junior outside hitter Jesse Stuart (Chattanooga, TN / Chiang Rai International Christian School) collecting 3 kills for the Highlanders.
