LANGHORNE, PA - Cairn fell short in 3 sets to Kean.
Cairn (0-4 / 0-0 UNITED EAST) got out to a hot start against Kean (2-0 / 0-0CVC) winning the first two points to take an early lead. Kean responded by going on an 8-point run to tke control of the set. Kean never relented this control, Cairn rallied slightly late and picked up two points off kills from junior outside hitter
Sam Poirier (Nogyang, South Korea International Christian School Uijeongbu). This burst from the Highlanders was too late however, and Cairn dropped the first set 25-11. The second set also saw Cairn take an early lead, the Highlanders got out in front 5-3 after Poirier collected two early blocks and a service ace. This set Kean was not able to pull away, at one point the Highlanders recorded 4 straight points to keep the set close. Kean went on their own 4 point run which put the set out f reach and put Kean ahead 2-0. The third and final set resembled the first, with Kean taking control and outpacing Cairn. Kean won the final 8 points of the match to put away the Highlanders for good.Â
