LANGHORNE, PA – Women's Soccer forced a draw with Centenary on opening night at home, 2-2.
Junior midfielder
Paige Noble (Egg Harbor, Twp., NJ / Atlantic Christian) wasted no time to put the Highlanders ahead, scoring with the header off of sophomore forward
Josey Smith's (Levittown, PA / Pennsbury) corner kick in the second minute. Centenary (0-1-1) answered in the 11
th minute to tie the match, but Smith had other plans, scoring seconds later on the ensuing kickoff, assisted by sophomore defender
Macie Starr (Cleveland, TN / Walker Valley), putting the Highlanders back up as they led through the break.
Out of the break, the Cyclones would equalize after a free kick just outside the box (64'). Smith and junior midfielder
Gianna Manning (Newport News, VA / Virginia Commonwealth University) would look to capitalize on open looks to but Cairn back up, coming up just shy off the post and saved, respectively, forcing the 2-2 draw.
Smith had three points with a goal and assist while Noble scored the first Cairn goal, assisted by Starr.
Cairn will host Eastern on Saturday as the Highlanders and Eagles square off at 1 p.m. in Langhorne.
