LANGHORNE, PA – Cairn Men's Soccer hosted Goucher on opening night in Langhorne, forcing a draw with the Gophers, 1-1.
Goucher (0-0-1) struck first in the 29
th minute for their first score of the young season as Cairn (0-0-1) would take eight shots in the first half to attempt to match. Junior forward
Alijah Miller (Monroe, NC / Homeschool) would sound off on a penalty kick in the 59
th minute to tie the match. Graduate midfielder
Matthews Lungu (Lilongwe, Malawi / African Bible College – Malawi) would shoot high on a decent look outside the box with 18-minutes to play as the Highlanders searched for the lead. Lungu would take another with two minutes and change to play, coming up empty as freshman midfielder
Nathan Babyak (Albertville, France / Mechanicsburg) took the final shot of the game, sailing it high and ending in a draw.
Miller took six shots, connecting on the penalty kick to force the draw.
The Highlanders will be back in action at Arcadia on Wednesday night as they duel with the Knights at 7 p.m.
