MEDIA, PA – The Cairn Women's Tennis team traveled to Penn State Brandywine to take on the Nittany Lions in a United East conference evening match, Wednesday.
DOUBLES PLAY
Cairn (3-1 / 3-1 UNITED EAST) showed out on Wednesday against the Nittany Lions, battling all day, with long matches and several crucial tight knit games and points to be earned. Starting out, sophomore
Reagan Griffith (Doylestown, PA / Central Bucks East) and her partner
Delaney Bouton (Point Pleasant Beach, NJ / Point Pleasant Beach High School) had a tough battle throughout the entirety of their #1 doubles matchup, but came out with the win in the end, 7-6. Junior
Tatiana Ipri (Mullica Hill, NJ / Gloucester County Christian) and senior
Kailee Sobrino (Vail, AZ / Empire) both continue to be dominant in their doubles play, securing a point for the Highlanders with two doubles wins on the day, with a score of 6-2. For the #3 doubles matchup it was sophomore
Madison Searls (Seaford, DE / Salisbury Christian) and sophomore
Hajin Seo (Bangkok, Thailand / International Community School) both secured the win as well with a competitive 6-3 win against the Nittany Lions for the doubles play sweep.
SINGLES PLAY:
Starting off with singles, Griffith took on a hard assignment in the #1 matchup, going into three sets and eventually just coming short, 3-6 in the third set. For the #2 singles play, Bouton had a tough matchup as well but was able to come out victorious in this one, winning the match 6-2, 6-1 The #3 singles were an extremely close match all game long, with Ipri losing the first set 6-7, but then made a huge comeback in the second (6-3) and third (6-0) sets, having a statement win against the Nittany Lions. Searls came up victorious in her match as the #4 singles, falling just short in the third set, coming back 6-3, 6-4 after dropping the first set 6-3. Sobrino took on the #5 singles matchup and came out with another win on the season, helping the Highlanders clinch the win with a 6-2, 6-1 win. #6 singles was taken care of by Seo with a dominant performance as she gave the Nittany Lions a double bagel, 6-0, 6-0, to give the Highlanders a 5-2 away win.
The Highlanders will travel to Lancaster, PA on Saturday to take on the Chargers of Lancaster Bible College at 1 pm.
