LANDISVILLE, PA – Cairn Women's Tennis team traveled to take on Lancaster Bible on Monday, winning by a score of 5-2.
DOUBLES PLAY:
Sophomore
Delaney Bouton (Point Pleasant Beach, NJ / Point Pleasant Beach high School) and classmate
Reagan Griffith (Doylestown, PA / Central Bucks East) dominated their #1 doubles contest against LBC with a score of 6-1 against the Chargers. Junior
Tatiana Ipri (Mullica Hill, NJ / Gloucester County Christian School) and senior
Kailee Sobrino (Vail, AZ / Empire HS) took on the #2 doubles play against the Chargers, just coming short of a win, but a very close and competitive match, losing by a score of 6-4. For the #3 doubles match, sophomore
Madison Searls (Seaford, DE / Salisbury Christian School) and classmate
Hajin Seo (Bangkok, Thailand / International Community School) won once again with a final score of 6-3, continuing their winning ways in the #3 doubles spot.
SINGLES PLAY:
Griffith got the singles matches started out with a 6-3, 6-2 win in #1 singles for the Highlanders. A classic performance for Griffith, getting a much-needed rebound win from last week's match. Bouton was in charged of the #2 singles match, taking a commanding fist set lead, then in the second set, she took a close 7-5 set win to take the #2 singles match for the Highlanders. Ipri took on the #3 singles matchup, having a close first set, but eventually falling just short with a score of 4-6, 1-6. Searls took on the #4 singles spot as she had lost both of the sets with a score of 1-6, 1-6, but in the second set it came down to all deuce points and at the end it was the Chargers who came away with the points. Sobrino took on the #5 singles spot and gave it her all, having close sets with her opponent, coming out on top with a close score of 7-5, 6-4. Finally, Seo took on the #6 singles match and went to a very close match, going to three sets, and Seo powers through to give herself a hard earned 7-5, 7-6, 7-1 win to close out singles play for the 4-1 Highlanders.
The Highlanders will take on St. Mary's Seahawks at home on Tuesday at 4 pm in United East Conference play and hopes to extend their win streak to three against the Seahawks.
