LAX: Highlanders Get the Senior Day Win in Season Finale

LANGHORNE, PA – It was a big day for the Highlanders, celebrating their Senior day with a win over Centenary University, 14-5.

Before the game, Cairn Lacrosse's six seniors were honored for their accomplishments and impact on the team over their years with the program: attackman Jacob Lingerman (Goshen, NY / Goshen), goalkeeper Nico Cione (Yardley, PA / Pennsbury), defenseman Joshua Dahn (Smithsburg, MD / Heritage Academy), midfielder Ethan Meiers (Plainsboro, NJ / West Windsor Plainsboro South), attackman Jason Briant (Lake Hiawatha, NJ / Morris Catholic), and short stick defensive midfielder Caleb Vargas (Montgomery Village, MD / Watkins Mill).

Cairn (1-11 / 0-4 UNITED EAST) took on Centenary (0-12 / 0-5 ATLANTIC EAST) for a Senior day finale in Langhorne, PA and finished the season on a high note starting off with three straight goals scored in the first, two being scored by Lingerman and the other being scored by junior attackman Cole Heffler (Eldersburg, MD / Central Maryland Christian), also accompanying an assist from Lingerman's first goal.

The Cyclones would score one goal next, but then the Highlanders would go on to score 7 straight, dominating the whole second period. Lingerman and junior midfielder Adain Holliday (New York, NY / Urban Assembly Maker) closed the period with 2 goals for the Highlanders. Heffler and Holliday would score 3 combined for the Highlanders, along with attackman Luke Fowler (Landenberg, PA / Wilmington Christian) and Cione joining in on the fun with his first career goal as he moved out of goal for the third quarter, making it a 10-1 Highlander lead.

Briant would score a pair of goals against the Cyclones as it was his senior day as well, along with Meiers having a memorable goal for himself on senior day. Heffler would score one more and the Highlanders would eventually win the game by a score of 14-5.
