LANGHORNE, PA – Cairn Softball hosted Penn St. Abington for senior day as the four Highlander seniors were honored between games.

Penn St. Abington (14-20 / 9-7 UNITTED EAST) got ahead 5-0 in the early goings ahead of junior catcher Myiah Petroro (Long Island, NY / Liberty University Online Academy) advancing to second and stealing third scoring as freshman second baseman Riley Curtis (Newark, DE / Odessa) doubled to put another runner in scoring position. Classmate Korina Feliciano (Cherry Hill, NJ / Cherry Hill West) doubled, scoring Curtis to cut the lead to 5-2.

After holding the Nittany Lions scoreless in the fifth, Petroro doubled with two outs, scoring senior third baseman Molly Deshetsky (Olmstedville, NY / Clarks Summit University). Senior second baseman Julia Bruestle (Abington, PA / Abington) then singled, scoring Petrro as Abington made an error as Cairn (2-22 / 0-13 UNITED EAST) was down only 5-4.

The Nittany Lions put up five runs in the sixth, extending their lead to 10-4 and holding on to the lead for the game one victory.
