CHAMBERSBURG, PA – Cairn Softball took on Wilson College in Southern PA on Saturday, dropping both games of the doubleheader, 14-3 and 21-3.
GAME ONE
Wilson (17-11 / 6-5 UNITED EAST) got off to a hot start in game one with ten runs in the first two innings as senior
Molly Deshetsky (Olmstedville, NY / Clarks Summit University) singled to score freshman infielder
Korina Feliciano (Cherry Hill, NJ / Cherry Hill West) in the second.
The Phoenix added four more in the fourth as the Highlanders put up two runs in the fifth as junior pitcher
Sydney Wright (Souderton, PA / Souderton) singled to lead off the inning, scoring as senior second baseman
Julia Bruestle (Abington, PA / Abington) tripled to left center. Freshman shortstop
Riley Curtis (Newark, DE / Odessa) came up next with an RBI double.
The Phoenix would stay within mercy rule range and end game one in five innings, 14-3. Feliciano finished with a pair of hits as Curtis had a double and a triple for Bruestle.
GAME TWO
Curis homered in the first with two outs, her second of the year, to put Cairn (2-20 / 0-11 UNITED EAST) up 1-0. The Phoenix responded with three runs in the bottom half on three hits and two errors before a 13-run second inning and five more in the third. Sophomore centerfielder
Emily Brittin (Winslow, NJ / Pilgrim Academy) singled in the meantime, scoring a run in the second as the score was 21-2 through three. Cairn would add a final run in the fifth as Bruestle came around to score following her leadoff walk.
Brittin and Feliciano each had two hits in game two, Brittin going 2-2 as Feliciano had a double. Curtis chipped in with a home run.
Cairn will host Penn St. Abington on Tuesday afternoon for a conference doubleheader and senior day starting at 3 p.m.
