LANGHORNE, PA – The Cairn Women's Tennis team took on the Nittany Lions in United East Conference play Thursday, winning 6-1 in their regular season finale.
DOUBLES PLAY:
Sophomore
Reagan Griffith (Doylestown, PA / Central Bucks East) and classmate
Delaney Bouton (Point Pleasant Beach, NJ / Point Pleasant Beach high School) started off the doubles matches with a hard-fought battle, but eventually falling 6-3 in a close match. Senior
Kailee Sobrino (Vail, AZ / Empire HS) and junior
Tatiana Ipri (Mullica Hill, NJ / Gloucester County Christian School) had a close contest in their #2 doubles match, but having the advantage in the 6-4 victory over the Nittany Lions. Sophomore
Hajin Seo (Bangkok, Thailand / International Community School) and classmate
Madison Searls (Seaford, DE / Salisbury Christian School) had a strong performance against their opposition, winning by a score of 6-2 to help earn the Highlanders first match point of the day.
SINGLES PLAY:
Griffith had a tough day against the Nittany Lions, but battled in her #1 singles contest, falling by a score of 6-2, 6-4, nearly taking it to a third set. Bouton dominated in her contest against the Nittany Lions, winning #2 singles with a commanding double bagel. Ipri had a strong performance in her #3 contest, leaving it all out on the court with a 6-0, 6-3 win. Searls had a rough start, losing the first set, but showed out in the second and third set tiebreaker, staying hungry to make the late comeback with a 7-5 win in the second and 10-6 win in the third to secure a win in the #4 spot. Sobrino played in the #5 singles spot and came out with a dominant 6-1, 6-0 win, making it back-to-back wins in two days. Seo delivered a double bagel for the Highlanders in the #6 spot, showing poise in her shutout win against Abington to give the Highlanders the 6-1 season finale win.
The Highlanders will continue on to the United East Championship and await the winner of Cedar Crest and Penn College for the first round matchup in the First Round Championship.
