LANGHORNE, PA – #3 Cairn Women's Tennis took on #6 Notre Dame of Maryland on Sunday for the First Round of the United East Women's Tennis Championship winning 4-0.
DOUBLES PLAY
Sophomore's
Reagan Griffith (Doylestown, PA / Central Bucks East) and
Delaney Bouton (Point Pleasant Beach, NJ / Point Pleasant Beach High School) took on #1 doubles and got the day off started with a dominant doubles performance, winning 6-0 in which set the tone for the Highlanders in the first round of the United East Women's Tennis Championship. Sophomore
Hajin Seo (Bangkok, Thailand / International Community School) and senior
Abbi Heacock (Media, PA / Delaware County Christian) took on #3 doubles and delivered with a impressive 6-1 win in Heacock's tennis debut, giving the Highlanders the crucial point in doubles, winning 2 out of the 3 matches.
SINGLES PLAY
Griffith started off singles strong, winning both sets 6-1, giving the Highlanders a 2-0 start in their First-Round match. Bouton then followed Griffith with another win, this time winning the first set 6-1, and then the second set 6-2 to clinch the First-Round win for the Highlanders and advance them to the next round. Heacock took on #6 singles and took care of business, winning her first singles match by a score of 6-0, 6-1, helping the Highlanders sweep the Gators 4-0 in Sunday's contest.
The Highlanders will head to #2 Penn St. Harrisburg in Middletown, PA for the United East Championship Semifinals round on Wednesday.
