SB: Heacock Records 100th Career Hit in Doubleheader with St. Elizabeth

LANGHORNE, PA – Cairn Softball was swept by St. Elizabeth on Wednesday, 17-0 and 9-0, at home.

GAME ONE
The Eagles put up four runs in the first inning to set their offensive pace while junior catcher Myiah Petroro (Long Island, NY / Liberty University Online Academy) got the Highlanders their first hit. The defense was able to keep St. Elizabeth (16-16 / 6-4 UNITED EAST) quiet until the fifth where they added three more to the lead.

In the seventh, the Eagles put the game out of reach with a ten-run inning, closing the door on game one at 17-0.

Senior pitcher Abbi Heacock (Media, PA / Delaware County Christian) allowed no earned runs in 2.1 innings of relief in game one.

GAME TWO
Things looked promising in the first for Cairn (2-19 / 0-10 UNITED EAST) with two runners and one out as the Eagles were able to evade trouble and keep the game scoreless in the first frame. St. Elizabeth put up a crooked number with three runs in the top of the second, retiring Cairn in order in the bottom half.

After a quick third inning, the Eagles continue to build their lead to seven in the fourth with four runs on five hits before Heacock came up in the bottom half, lining a single through the left side for her 100th career hit, becoming the most recent Cairn Softball student-athlete to reach the century mark (Jenna Kenyon – 2023). St. Elizabeth reached the mercy rule in the fifth with two runs on four hits, winning game two 9-0.

Petroro and freshman infielder Riley Curtis (Newark, DE / Odessa) each had two hits on the day between the pair of games, as Curtis added a triple in game one.

Cairn will take on Wilson this weekend on the road with a 1/3 pm doubleheader in Chambersburg, PA.
