ALLENTOWN, PA – Cairn Women's Tennis opened up their season and United East Conference play on Wednesday, traveling to Cedar Crest for an afternoon match.
Cairn (1-0 / 1-0 UNITED EAST) got underway with two wins in doubles play as sophomore Reagan Griffith (Doylestown, PA / Central Bucks East) and sophomore Delaney Bouton (Point Pleasant Beach, NJ / Point Pleasant Beach HS) took #1 doubles 6-0. Following the number one doubles match, Sophomore Madison Searls (Seaford, DE / Salisbury Christian School) and Sophomore Hajin Seo (Bangkok, Thailand / International Community School) started out their doubles season off with a 6-4 win for the #3 doubles match.
In singles play, Griffith took care of business in the #1 spot, winning with authority, 6-0 / 6-0. In the #2 singles match, Bouton had a tough start, going 2-6 in the first set, but then would go 6-0, and taking the tiebreaker winning it 10-5. Junior Tatiana Ipri (Mullica Hill, NJ / Gloucester County Christian School) would take a commanding 6-0 / 6-1 win for the #3 singles match. Senior Kailee Sobrino (Vail, AZ / Empire HS) also won the #5 singles match 6-0 / 6-1 following up with a Seo #6 Singles win 6-2 / 6-0.
The Highlanders will look to extend their win streak and face the Bryn Athyn Lions in conference play for the home opener on Saturday at 12 p.m. in Langhorne, PA.
