HARRISBURG, PA – Cairn Women's Tennis traveled to Penn State Harrisburg to take on the Nittany Lions for a United East Conference afternoon match, Tuesday.
DOUBLES PLAY
Cairn (2-1 / 2-1 UNITED EAST) had a tough meeting against the Nittany Lions, as sophomore
Reagan Griffith (Doylestown, PA / Central Bucks East) and sophomore
Delaney Bouton (Point Pleasant Beach, NJ / Point Pleasant Beach HS) both took on the #1 doubles match and showed toughness, but came up just short, losing 6-4. Meanwhile, in the #2 doubles play, junior
Tatiana Ipri (Mullica Hill, NJ / Gloucester County Christian School) and senior
Kailee Sobrino (Vail, AZ / Empire HS) both fought hard, eventually taking a 6-0 loss. Sophomore's
Madison Searls (Seaford, DE / Salisbury High School) and
Hajin Seo (Bangkok, Thailand / International Community School) also had very tough competition and ended up taking a 6-0 loss.
SINGLES PLAY
Cairn had a tough time in singles play against Harrisburg, with Griffith having only one point, losing 6-0 / 6-1. Ipri battled hard in the #3 singles match but would end up losing 6-1 / 6-1. Searls would take on the #4 singles and didn't back down, making Harrisburg earn their points, and would eventually take a 6-0 / 6-1 loss. Following that match, Sobrino would take on #5 singles and would put up a hard earned three points against Harrisburg but would end up falling 6-2 / 6-1. Lastly, Seo also managed to put up three points under the pressure of being the last match standing but falling 6-2 / 6-1.
The Highlanders will look to get back to their winning ways against the St. Mary's of Maryland Seahawks in conference play for a home match on Saturday at 1 pm in Langhorne, PA.
