LANCASTER, PA – Cairn Softball traveled to Lancaster to take on Lancaster Bible on Tuesday, dropping both games against the Chargers, 2-8 and 2-10.
GAME ONE
Cairn (2-9 / 0-2 UNITED EAST) got the scoring started with a single from senior pitcher
Abbi Heacock (Media, PA / Delaware County Christian) which made the game 1-0 but right after that it was all Chargers who scored seven straight unanswered runs to make the lead 7-1 in the third inning. In the fourth, junior first baseman
Sydney Wright (Souderton, PA / Souderton) scored off an error making it 7-2, but the Highlanders would eventually fall 8-2.
Heacpck went 2-4 in game one with an RBI.
GAME TWO
Heacock got the game started off with a run once again in the early goings, bringing Wright home off of a single up the middle to make it 1-0 in the first. The Chargers would answer fast with 2 runs in the bottom half to go ahead 2-1. Freshman shortstop
Riley Curtis (Newark, DE / Odessa) would score off of an error from the Chargers in the third, tying the game at two apiece. After that, Lancaster Bible (10-6 / UNITED EAST) had the advantage, scoring eight straight runs including two doubles and a triple, winning the game 10-2.
Curtis had a two-hit game in the evening finale going 2-3 with a run.
Cairn will look to get back in the win column going up against Keystone College on Saturday for a doubleheader with the Giants at 1 and 3 p.m.
