WBB: Cain Falls to Cedar Crest in Road Battle

ALLENTOWN, PA – Cairn Women's Basketball fell to Cedar Crest College on the road Thursday, 64-55.

Senior guard Kailee Sobrino (Vail, AZ / Empire) got the Highlanders going with a three as back-to-back offensive boards from sophomore forward Audrey Elisondo (Bethesda, MD / James I O'Neill) set up junior guard Tatiana Ipri (Mullica Hill, NJ / Gloucester County Christian) with a jump shot. Sophomore Laryssa Robinson (Mount Laurel, NJ / Life Center) hit from deep with classmate Dezaray Bright (Keystone Heights, FL / Keystone Heights) adding a jumper to give Cairn (1-20 / 0-15 UNITED EAST) the lead. With the Falcons taking control again in the closing minutes of the first quarter, Sobrino hit from midrange as the Highlanders were ahead 15-14 after ten minutes of play.

Early buckets in the second quarter from Elisondo and Sobrino had Cairn in control by six until Cedar Crest (8-10 / 6-9 UNITED EAST) got stops on defense and took the lead. Robinson made another three before the Falcons answered back with their own deep shooting for a 33-26 lead at the half.

Quarter three had the Falcons extending their lead to double figures, as Bright and Sobrino continued to fire away at the basket. Sobrino hit for three points twice in the fourth quarter but by that stage in the game, Cedar Crest had amounted enough of a lead to take the game 64-55.

Sobrino finished with 26 points on five three-pointers, 8 assists, and five steals. Elisondo added eight points while Robinson and Bright each had six, Bright grabbing ten rebounds.

The Highlanders will close out their season on the road at Wilson on Saturday with a 1 p.m. tip off.
