MTEN: Highlanders Duel with Knights

GLENSIDE, PA - Cairn Men's Tennis took on the Arcadia Knights and lost by a score of 7-0 on Tuesday in their first away match of the fall season.


DOUBLES PLAY:

Cairn (1-2) got the day started with #1 doubles partners, seniors Daniel Stange (Langhorne, PA / Bucks County Tech) and Jacob Gossel (Allentown, PA / Covenant Christian), falling by a score of 6-0. #2 doubles for the Highlanders was played by junior Joshua Nacy (Puebla, Mexico / Michigan Connections Academy) and sophomore Matheo Baez (Ibarra, Ecuador / Victoria Bilingual Christian Academy) and they had a rough go, falling 6-0. #3 doubles was played by senior Evan Ciccone (Eatontown, NJ / Monmouth Regional) and freshman Nehemiah Clark (Ukarumpa, Papua New Guinea / Ukarumpa International School), who secured their first ever respected doubles win with some close points, but came out on top with the only Highlander win of the day.

SINGLES PLAY:

Baez started out #1 singles and gave it his all, but lost by a score of 6-0, 6-0 in his respected match. Nacy led #2 singles and put up a fight, taking 2 games, but ended up falling 6-0, 6-2. Stange was in charge of #3 singles and took the first set with an exclamation point 6-1, but then had a rough go in the second set falling 6-1 and eventually losing the 3rd 1-0. #4 singles

was led by Gossel who put up 3 games in the first set, but fell by a score of 6-3, 6-0. Ciccone had the #5 singles match and was able to take a game in the first set, but then had a chance to extend his match to three sets and could not do so, falling 6-1, 7-5. Clark took on the #6 singles and was able to get 2 games in the first set and 3 in the next, but eventually fell by a score of 6-2, 6-3.

The Highlanders look to get back on track in their next fall match against Neumann at the McCurdy Tennis Facility in Langhorne, PA for a 3:30 PM match on Tuesday.
