LANGHORNE, PA – The Cairn Men's Tennis team played their last fall home match against the Neumann Knights, falling short with a score of 3-4 in the finale.
DOUBLES PLAY:
Seniors Daniel Stange (Langhorne, PA / Bucks County Technical High School) and Jacob Gossel (Allentown, PA / Covenant Christian HS) kicked off the day with their #1doubles match and fell by a score of 6-0. Sophomore Matheo Baez (Ibarra, Ecuador / Victoria Bilingual Christian Academy) and Junior Josh Nacy (Puebla, Mexico / Michigan Connections Academy) played #2 doubles and got the first win on the board for Cairn with a dominant score of 6-2. Senior Evan Ciccone (Tinton Falls, NJ / Monmouth Regional) and Freshman Nehemiah Clark (Ukarumpa, Papua New Guinea / Ukarumpa International School) also won with a score of 6-2 which marks their second straight doubles win.
SINGLES PLAY:
Baez took on the #1 singles with a tough matchup and a final score of 6-1, 6-1. Stange took on #2 singles as he was able to earn 5 games, but fell short with a score of 6-1, 6-4. Nacy was in charge of #3 singles and was able to earn 6 games in his matchup but ended up falling short by a final score of 6-4, 6-2. Gossel took on the #4 singles matchup and dominated, winning by a commanding score of 6-1, 6-0 against the Knights. Clark took on
#5 singles and put up a tough fight but was unable to overcome the Knights and lost by a score of 6-5, 7-7 and 3-0 in the second set breaker. Ciccone played as the #6 spot in this matchup and had a rough first set but came back with resilience in his second and third sets, coming out on top with a score of 3-6, 6-3 and 6-0.
The Highlanders will look to turn it around on Saturday for their Fall Finale away at Eastern in St. David's, PA for a 12 PM start time.
