WVB: Dominant Performance Leads Highlanders Over Rosemont

LANGHORNE, PA – The Cairn Women's Volleyball team showcased its dominance once again in a 3-0 sweep over Rosemont College on Saturday, October 4, 2025. From the very first serve, the Highlanders brought energy and confidence, jumping out to an early lead and never looking back. Their offensive efficiency set the tone, with strong hitting and precise passing allowing them to stay in control throughout the match. Rosemont struggled to find an answer to Cairn's aggressive attacks and well-placed serves, which repeatedly put the Ravens on the defensive.

Cairn (12-3 / 3-1 UNITED EAST) set the pace in the opening frame with seven aces, three from junior middle Georgianna Thorpe (Southampton, PA / William Tennent) as Rosemont (0-10 / 0-3 UNITED EAST) was held to only nine points, winning 25-9. The Highlanders opened the second set with nine unanswered points, featuring five-straight aces by Thorpe. Sophomore middle Maddie Shackelford (Warrington, PA / Plumstead Christian) added two kills to make it 10-1 before Cairn went running to the finish on two kills by junior outside hitter Bridget Dahn (Smithsburg, MD / Heritage Academy) and sophomore libero Liliana Magazzu (Reading, PA / Exeter) closing the set on an ace, 25-3.

Rosemont put up a fight in the third, tying the set 5-5 before two aces by sophomore outside hitter Emma Dekker (Rotterdam, Netherlands / International Community School). Thorpe took to the service line again, scoring three more on the afternoon as Cairn cruised to a 25-14 set three victory.

Cairn's service game was a major difference-maker, as the Highlanders racked up aces and kept Rosemont from running its offense smoothly. Leading that category was Thorpe who matched the program-record for single-game aces at eleven, adding six kills. Shackelford recorded a game-high eight kills.

Cairn will match up with Valley Forge in a week, hosting the Patriots on October 11 at 1 p.m.
