LANGHORNE, PA—The Highlanders hosted Valley Forge last Saturday and came out with a 3-0 win.
The first set started out in Cairn's (13-3, 4-1 United East) favor, starting out with a 6-1 lead thanks to 2 kills and an ace from junior middle blocker
Georgianna Thorpe (Southampton, PA / William Tennent). Cairn didn't stop there, though. Junior setter
Anna Dow (Syracuse, NY / Faith Heritage School) got an ace and then set up her teammates to extend their lead to 12-2. After a few aces from Valley Forge (7-7, 0-4 United East), the Highlanders took back control and made it 18-6. Cairn's pressure continued to force a bigger lead as Valley Forge got several errors as the score became 24-9. Sophomore outside hitter

The second set starts off with a dominant 11-2 lead to the Highlanders. The constant pressure was too much for the Patriots as Cairn zoomed off, gaining a large 19-3 lead as Thorpe got 3 aces and Dow set up her teammates for kills from sophomore middle blocker

Marah Lehman (Chambersburg, PA / Chambersburg). Cairn was overwhelming as Valley Forge was unable to recover, as Lehman and Dow lead their team to secure the second set, 25-5
Valley Forge controlled the 3rd set early, getting a 6-1 lead; they refused to give Cairn any momentum. Cairn found their footing and took storm as Thorpe's aces and Shackleford's kills lead Cairn to storm back and get a 13-5 lead. Cairn didn't stop there; Dow took storm and proceeded to have 4 aces as Cairn looked to close the game. Lehman called game with a kill, assisted by Dow.
Lehman led the team in kills with 11, as Thorpe leads 2 categories with 8 aces and 2 blocks. Dow led assists with 32 while Magazzu led digs with 7.
Cairn remains at home as they host Penn St. Brandywine on October 14th at 7pm.
