MSOC: Cairn Tops Valley Forge on Senior Night

LANGHORNE, PA – Cairn Men's Soccer celebrated Senior Day with a 1–0 victory over Valley Forge on Wednesday night at the Stillman Athletic Complex.

Before the match, the Highlanders honored nine seniors, goalkeeper Deyshon Green (Hampton, VA / Phoebus), midfielders Andreas Not (Palmanova, Italy / Liceo Caterina Percoto), Matthews Lungu (Lilongwe, Malawi / African Bible College - Malawi), and Zach Knudsen (Doylestown, PA / Plumstead Christian), forward Hayden Bassoff (Harrisburg, PA / Harrisburg Christian), and defenders Jonathan Akers (Bel Air, MD / C. Milton Wright), Christian Ferguson (Bowie, MD / Riverdale Baptist), and Ethan Blanchard (Denville, NJ / Morris Knolls), along with their TeamIMPACT player, Dom. The nine gentlemen were recognized for their leadership, dedication, and impact on the program over their years.

The match got underway with junior forward Alijah Miller (Monroe, NC / Homeschool) wasting no time to score just seventeen seconds into the match putting Cairn (2-5-3 / 1-0-1 UNITED EAST) ahead. The seniors played key roles throughout the match, helping Cairn lead possession, control the pace, and pressure Valley Forge (2-8-1 / 0-2 UNITED EAST), holding the Patriots to only five shots (one on goal).

Sophomore goalkeeper Evan Aubry (Cherry Hill, NJ / Cherry Hill West) and Green combined for a strong defensive effort in the shutout. The Highlanders outshot Valley Forge 27–5 and dominated corner kicks 20–1.

Cairn will take the weekend off before their next conference opponent of Wilson College on Tuesday at 3 p.m.
