BB: Baseball Concludes Season in Skye Division Championship

LA PLUME, PA – The Cairn University Baseball team fell short in the Skye Division Championship game on Monday, falling 8-2 to No. 1 Keystone College to end their season.

After the rain pushed back the 2024 United East Baseball Championship – Divisional Championship to Monday, the No. 2 Highlanders looked to contend for a Skye Division Championship in their first championship series appearance since 2019.

Junior righty Ronaldinho Alcin (Miami, FL / North Miami Beach SHS) held the Keystone (31-11) lineup scoreless for two innings before the Giants drove in a run each in the third and fourth. They would increase their lead to 4-0 through five innings before fifth year outfielder Tyler Fox (Boyertown, PA / West-Mont Christian) got the Highlanders into the hit column.

Cairn (26-17) found themselves down 8-0 with their season on the line in the ninth inning to which Fox responded with a lead off single. Junior first baseman Tyler Warr (Langhorne, PA / Neshaminy) doubled, putting two runners in scoring position. Sophomore catcher Zach Bauers (Cooper City, FL / Cooper City) grounded out, scoring Fox as Warr moved to third. Fifth year third baseman Sam Spadea (Yarley, PA / Pennsbury) scored Warr on a sacrifice fly to make the score 8-2 before Keystone recorded the third out, putting a finish to the Highlanders' season.

With his doubles, Warr concludes his hot junior season with a team and conference-leading .429 batting average (35th highest in Division III) and 67 hits (21 in Division III). Fox added two final hits to his chapter of Cairn Baseball, finishing as a career .321 hitter with 143 hits.

The Highlanders set their gaze to the 2025 season of United East Baseball.
