ST. MARY'S CITY, MD – The No. 4 seeded Cairn University Men's Lacrosse took on No. 1 St. Mary's College of Maryland in St. Mary's City on Tuesday evening in the 2024 United East Men's Lacrosse Championship – Semifinal Round, dropping the matchup, 27-3.
HIGHLANDER SCORING PLAYS
- Senior attacker Jonathan Balsamo (Long Island, NY / Eastport South Manor) led off the game with a goal to give the Highlanders a 1-0 lead.
- Sophomore defender Nicholas Kennedy (Hudson Valley, NY / Goshen Central) scored his first goal of the season in the third quarter as the Seahawks were head 15-2.
- Balsamo scored his 35th goal of the season in the fourth quarter.
The Highlanders ended their season at the hands of No. 1 St. Mary's College of Maryland, their second-straight postseason appearance and first United East Championship appearance, finishing 2024 one game short of the program best mark last season. Balsamo closes his career as the all-time leading scorer in program history with 110 goals and 137 points as he and his fellow seniors passes the torch to the 2025 Cairn Men's Lacrosse squad.
