ST. MARY'S CITY, MD – The Cairn University Men's Lacrosse team was back in action on Wednesday afternoon in their inaugural match with St. Mary's College of Maryland, where they fell 24-3.
 
NOTABLES

• Sophomore attacker Cole Heffler (Eldersburg, MD / Central Maryland Christian), sophomore midfielder Ryan Gallagher (Mount Airy, MD / South Carroll), and senior attacker Jonathan Balsamo (Long Island, NY / Eastport South Manor) each scored with Balsamo picking up an assist.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• St. Mary's (8-3 / 2-0 UNITED EAST) were unanswered through the first half, scoring eight goals in each quarter to hold a 16-0 advantage at the half.
• Cairn (2-7 / 0-2 UNITED EAST) had the first goal of the second half as Heffler scored. The Seahawks answered back with two more before Gallagher added a second Highlander goal, assisted by Balsamo.
• The Seahawks scored in the closing seconds in the third off a man-up opportunity to close the frame ahead 19-2
• After four St. Mary's goals to start the fourth quarter, Balsamo notched his 20th goal of the season as the Highlanders fell 24-3.

UPCOMING SCHEDULE

• Cairn will host Keystone College on Saturday night at 7 p.m. as the Highlanders will honor the graduating seniors on Senior Night from the G. Patrick Stillman Athletic Complex.
