LANGHORNE, PA – The Cairn Men's Tennis team hosted the Clarks Summit University Defenders on Tuesday in their rescheduled match from earlier this season where the Highlanders swept the competition, 9-0.
In doubles play, senior
Michael Wilson (New Hope, PA / New Hope-Solebury) and graduate student
Timothy Robinson Jr. (Cinnaminson, NJ / Cinnaminson) got things rolling with an 8-1 win in the first matchup. Senior
Joel Kim (Harrington Park, NJ / Black Forest Academy) and sophomore
Jacob Gossel (Allentown, PA / Covenant Christian) held off their Defender opponents 8-3 in No. 2 doubles. The duo of sophomore
Daniel Stange (Langhorne, PA / Bucks County Technical) and freshman
Joshua Nacy (Puebla, Mexico / Michigan Connections Academy) finished up doubles play with an 8-0 shutout.
The Highlander domination continued in singles play as Wilson started with a 6-1 and 6-0 win. Robinson swept the first game 6-0 and held off Clarks Summit (0-8 / 0-3 UNITED EAST) 7-5 in the second game of No. 2 singles. Kim won #3 singles 6-0 & 6-1. Stange won the #4 matchup 6-0 and 6-2 as Nacy (6-1, 6-2) and Gossel (6-2,6-0) finished off the Defenders.
The Highlanders move to .500 in conference play as they prepare for Penn State – Berks on Wednesday, Arcadia on Thursday and finish off the week hosting Penn College on Senior Day, Saturday.
