SB: Highlanders Split with Cedar Crest Behind Offensive Showing

LANGHORNE, PA – The Cairn Softball team hosted the Cedar Crest College Falcons on Saturday, splitting with their Skye Division foe, 5-1 in game one and 8-5 in game two.

GAME ONE
Offense opened up in the second inning of game one as freshman pitcher Evelyn Johnson (Yardley, PA / Calvary Christian) singled through the right side for a two-out single. Sophomore outfielder Jolene Zefferi (Bristol, PA / Bristol) worked a walk to move Johnson into scoring position for freshman left fielder Ella Quince (Morrisville, PA / Morrisville) to drive in with a single to the outfield and moved into scoring position on an error. Junior infielder Julia Bruestle (Abington, PA / Abington) beat out an infield single as Zefferi came in to score. Cairn (3-21 / 1-7 UNITED EAST SKYE DIVISION) put on the double steal to put pressure on the Falcons where Quince made it home safely to put the Highlanders up 3-0.

Cedar Crest (2-16 / 2-6 UNITED EAST SKYE DIVISION) answered with a run on the top half of the fourth, scoring on an error after a two-out walk.
