MVB: Highlanders Drop Joust With Lancaster Bible

LANGHORNE, PA – The Cairn University Men's Volleyball team hosted the Chargers of Lancaster Bible College on Saturday afternoon, a rematch of last year's conference championship, dropping the match, 3-0.
 
NOTABLES
  • Freshman outside hitter Sam Poirier (Nogyang, South Korea / International Christian School Uijeongbu) led the Highlanders with 8 kills followed by graduate middle hitter Jake Tolar (Fort Mill, SC / Nation Ford) with 7 kills and four block assists.
RECAP
  • Lancaster Bible (10-13 / 4-0 UNITED EAST) took a 13-4 lead out of the gate in set one with the Highlanders delivering a response to cut the lead to 16-10 as sophomore setter Josh Adler (Levittown, PA / Neshaminy) recorded an ace and two kills from Poirier.
  • Porier added an ace with the Chargers on the run. With set point in the balance, senior opposite hitter Joe Poirier (Nogyang, South Korea / International Christian School Uijeongbu) and Adler each managed a kill to prolong the set as LBC took the first set, 25-17.
  • Cairn (4-13 / 3-1 UNITED EAST) kept the Chargers within striking distance to start the second frame, before Lancaster Bible got ahead 17-10. Tolar would strike for three kills in the second as the Chargers took the set, 25-15.
  • Lancaster Bible ran up the score 10-3 in the third stanza with J. Porier, Tolar, and junior middle hitter Tommy Ragonese (Buffalo, NY / Royalton-Hartland High School) working to slow their momentum with two kills apiece.
  • The Chargers would charge ahead, holding the Highlanders to eleven points to complete the sweep.
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
  • The Highlanders are on the road for the final time in the regular season, Tuesday, as they make the short trip over to Bryn Athyn College before hosting Wilson College on April 3 to close out the regular season on Senior Night.
