MSOC: Highlanders End Season in Conference Semifinal

ABINGTON, PA - The Cairn University Men's Soccer season came to a close on Tuesday afternoon as the #3 seeded Highlanders fell to #2 Penn State Abington 2-1 in regulation.

Facing off for the first time this season in the United East Men's Soccer Championship – Semifinal, the Nittany Lions scored first to go ahead 2-0 early in the first half. Sophomore forward Brock Burres (Wanaque, NJ / Hawthorne Christian) would score on his only shot of the day for Cairn (11-3-5 / 7-0-1), cutting the Nittany Lions' lead to 2-1. Both squads would manage five shots apiece for the first half as that would be the extent of the scoring.

In the second half, Penn St. Abington (9-7-4 / 7-0-1) would hold the Highlanders to only two shots as the Nittany Lions ended Cairn's playoff run.

Burres did the only scoring for Cairn as the Highlanders took seven shots, five on goal.

Cairn will bid farewell to their twelve seniors and prepare to face a different field of United East teams in 2025.
