NEWARK, NJ – Cairn Women's Basketball played their first game in the John K. Adams Tip-Off Classic, hosted by Rutgers-Newark, on Friday night, falling to Rutgers-Camden 70-47.

Senior guard Kailee Sobrino (Vail, AZ / Empire) made the first shot for the Highlanders along two layups from sophomore forward Laryssa Robinson (Mount Laurel, NJ / Life Center), giving Cairn (1-2) a brief lead. The Scarlet Raptors would hold Cairn to seven points after that, taking the lead and extending it to ten points.

After an early bucket from sophomore forward Dezaray Bright (Keystone Heights, FL / Keystone Heights), Rutgers-Camden (3-0) went on a 12-3 run behind a pair of threes to build their lead further. Sophomore guard Ella Quince (Morrisville, PA / Morrisville) made a layup and free throw at the end of the half as the score was 41-21 after twenty minutes of play.

Junior guard Tatiana Ipri (Mullica Hill, NJ / Gloucester County Christian) made the first score for Cairn in the second half, followed up with layups from Bright and Quince. Rutgers-Camden pushed on, scoring thirteen unanswered points after that in the third quarter.

Into the fourth quarter, Sobrino scored the first seven points of the frame for the Highlanders on a layup and handful of free throws.
